DIY novice here. I'm updating the kitchen and the ceiling is wooden panels of a brown varnished/stained colour. Can I paint directly onto it and if so what is the correct paint to use. If not, what steps do I take first before painting it. Thanks
Hi paul1878 Yes you can overpaint it but you will need to clean off all cooking residues first. Then sand down to provide a key before applying oil based undercoat then whatever top coat you desire high could be emulsion. Regards S
