PAINTING OVER ARTEX

by maxbaker007 » Mon Oct 22, 2007 4:49 pm

Hi,

I tried to paint over an artex ceiling with normal emulsion white paint in the dining room, on a house about 10 years old.
It has cracked and peeled off most of what I have painted.

Is their a solution to this, I can't be the only person ever wating to paint a ceiling???

Thanks

Steve

Sounds like the ceiling (as are most ceilings) was a bit greasy. It should be washed down well with sugar soapfirst. Follow the instructions on the tub to wash off. Its a very common problem.

Hi,
scrap off loose artex and paint with PVA before painting. Dont let the roller dry out to much.
