Painting/wallpapering directly over untreated MDF??

Post by Northern_monkey » Thu Nov 01, 2007 11:40 am

Hello,

I have some MDF cupboards which I painted the outside of white, but neglected to paint the inside of them as I was losing the will to live! I've now decided that the funny brown colour of the MDF looks cheap and nasty (only took 4 years to come to this conclusion) and I'd like to sort it out.

However, as I'm very lazy I want to know if there is any paint that I can apply just one coat of directly onto the MDF?? If there isn't, can you fit wallpaper directly onto it and wallpaper the MDF? I just can't be bothered with having to paint it all again and want a cheats solution!

Thanks

:)

Hi

Unfortunately there is no real get around solution when it comes to MDF other than using a base coat of the correct primer/sealer and then painting over with a top coat. We do have a project page all about this here: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/mdf.htm

Kind Regards
