Part P or not part P?

by misterg » Mon Jun 25, 2007 1:23 am

Hi

I've just moved house and am doing up the master bedroom.
I want to make a couple changes to the wiring in the bedroom.

The wiring currently looks like this:

oooooooooooooooS3
ooooooooooooooo│
ooooooooooooooo│
┌S1──┐┌──S4┐
│ooooooS2ooooooo│

S1 to S4 are single sockets on the skirting board.

S2 is in another room on the other side of a lath and plaster wall. S3 is a spur off of S4. S4 links to the fuse box.

I want it to look like this:

ooS5======S3
oo║oooooooo║
oo║oooooooo║
┌S1oooooooS4┐
│ooooooooooo│

S5 is a new double socket. S1, S3, S4 will be moved off the skirting and made into double sockets. The double lines are new cable.

S2 will be decommissioned temporarily, until I'm ready to do up that room.

As I am adding a new socket on an existing circuit, and moving existing sockets, do I need to worry about Part P for this?

S3 to S4 will need to be new cable as there is not enough slack to move both S3 and S4 off the skirting boards.

If it is not notifiable, but over the course of a couple years I do up other rooms in a similar manner I would end up having nearly done a complete rewiring of the top floor.

Sorry about all the o's, couldn’t get it to line up otherwise.

Cheers

Hi, you can add to, move, extend circuit as long as not in a kitchen, & as long as not a complete new circuit.
Be careful to maintain the ring & not to have double loops ie fig. of 8 in the end

Great. That's what I was hoping to hear.

Thanks for the reply.
