Patching an old Tarmac Path Laid Over Dirt Track

by winny219 » Tue Jan 07, 2020 11:26 am

Hi. The lane at the end of my garden was originally a dirt track which the neighbours all paid to have tarmacked about 50 years ago (although I think the company only laid it on top of the soil so I am surprised it has done so well). The lane is only usually used one day a week to wheel bins along but obviously it has suffered from wear and tear and worn through to the soil under it. I would like to patch up the little pot holes that have appeared and thought about using cold lay tarmac, but will that stick to the soil or will I have to put a layer of something like gravel in before the tarmac? If there is any better product you can recommend I would be very grateful for your help. Many thanks.
