Patio construction on sloping garden

by Rapier503 » Sun May 10, 2020 10:52 am

Hi,
I am going to build a patio area down the bottom of our garden. As the garden slops I want to build 4 walls so the patio as even height. I intend to fill the 4 wall with the spoil from the footings and rubble and MOT to fill it up. The patio will be 7m x 4m and the wall height will be 50cm.
Questions:-
1. Do I need a single skin or double skin wall?
2. Based on the above answer, how deep do the footings need to be?

Thanks in advance

Ian

Hi rapier503
Provided you include internal piers 1 on the short side and 2 on the long side you should be ok with single skin for at least 25 years before cracks appear.
Footing need to go down to a stable and solid surface.
