I am in the process of building a green oak pergola, my wife wants me to install a polycarbonate roof or similar, personally I think this may end up feeling like sitting in a greenhouse. Does anyone have any not cost prohibitive suggestions as a method of roofing a pergola, that will allow us to shelter from the rain, but also allow fresh air. I love the look of Louvre systems, but they seem cost prohibitive, unless someone has any suggestions.
