Pipe Freezing Kits

by willsie01 » Mon Jul 13, 2020 3:40 pm

I've posted about reworking pipework by draining the system but I must admit if freezing works it would be much simpler What's the verdict on freezing? Roughly, how long will the frozen plug last in the sort of warm temperatures we have at the moment? I've seen a YouTube video of a home made freezing kit using canned air. Would that be reliable?

Hi willsie01
I use one of the Arctic kits and I think they suggest five operations can be carried out on 15mm pipe and this will give a plug lasting 5min.
In practice I think it needs 1/3 of a 500ml can so 3 plugs per can. You can always leave the gas flowing so as to guarantee the frozen plug remains.
Regards S
