hello everybody!
I've just moved into my own flat and am doing some decorating.
I don't know anything about building work/materials so bear with me as I try to explain what the problem is.
I believe all my internal walls are made out of plasterboard. They are thin and sound hollow. I've been painting my bedroom today when, just as everything was going well, suddenly, a large area of paint just came lean off/peeled from the wall, revealing a dry, mat cardboard-like wall, brown in colour?! I am using a dulux super matt brilliant white paint, by the way...
What do I do to repair it? Please tell me in simple terms as I am not much of a diy specialist.....
Also, I got artexed ceilings in the flat. They look ghastly and dated, 'whiped cream' effect. I've painted the ceiling in the living room and it looks ok. But then, te one in the bedroom is peeling off, and falling off in dusty/chalky like peices?!
I'm now left with the ceiling that's half nice and half terrible. I will let the paint dry and just brush it off tomorrow and may even leave it like this. Unless someone has a beter idea? I've been told something about that upv super or similar sounding to use as a primer, but when I read the back of the tin, it says 'not suitable to be painter over with a water-based emulsion' which is what i'm using?!
Please give me some advice as I don't know what to do!
