We would always as a matter of course cut the plaster at least one inch from the floor , except when tanking , for a few reasons , any damp in the boards or water spilled on the floor will track back up the plaster , 2. it stops any snots building up so to allow better fitting of skirting boards , 3 . it allows you to remove any floor boards more easily .
