plastering up to architrave

by desperado » Sun Jan 27, 2008 5:58 pm

Just installed new door frame in new door opening and am a little confused. The doorframe is the same width as the brick opening. Now looking at it, If I fit architrave then the plaster will come to the edge of the architrave. Looking at other door frames and architrave they seem to stand proud of plaster.

Help

Hi desperado,
You can get different sizes of door frames, I guess you may realize that now!
No worries so the frames fitted and plastering going to cause a problem with architrive not sitting flush.
The quickest easiest solution is to run some strips of wood around the face of frame, (I guess both sides) to bring it out to the desired amount so you can plaster flush to frame, this job does need to be neat and tidy around the internal edges, but once prepared and painted up. You can't really tell.
Good Luck
