Probably telling granny how to suck eggs, but I learned that the inserts from polypipe to the speedfit pushfits can be either plain or with the extra seal BUT the inserts from polypipe to metal shut-off valves HAVE to be plain. Otherwise the extra seal gets in the way of the olive being tightened correctly.
I have such worries about the short lenth of polypipe that goes into the shut-offs, that I make them up with compression to copper either side and push fit connectors from there on. May not be everyones choice, but at least I feel there is a better seal as far as I am concerned.
Plumbing is such fun - just like my brothers' mechano used to be.
