hello i am planning on buidling a guest house at the bottom of my garden and i would like to do it my self but i have no idea where to start. my next door neighbour has one and they did say that it never needed planning permission they said it was within the guide lines or something like that. but anyway if anyone can give me any advice at all about any stage of the build evan cheap builders yards it would be a god send.

can't disagree with rosebery but I can say that if you are planning on having people sleep in this "guest house" then you will need Building Regulations approval.

I would strongly recommend contacting local authority my neighboours have done more or less the same, they have built it already, they told us that they had planning permission from local council, but we had had no letter from the council saying would i like to appeal against it, it turned out that they lied
