Flooring and Insulation Advice for new Summer House

by jdm01 » Sun Oct 04, 2015 6:25 pm

A new build of a summerhouse (3m x 2m) made from a timber frame (4 x 2 timber). I am planning to have vertical timber overlapped on the outside and Gyproc on inside - osb floor and roof. Base is raised on concrete pillars 6" off earth

I have a quantity of ALREFLEX 2l1, Protect Ultra and Earthwool. I want the build to be air/watertight and warm.

Plan is to have the following and was looking for some advice whether this would be recommended and if not what would you do?

Floor - wrapped in ALREFLEX

Walls out to in:

Vertical lapped 4 x 3/4" Timber
20mm cavity
Protect Ultra wrap
4 x 2" timber
ALReflex
20mm cavity
Gyproc

Single sloping Roof will be osb with Protect wrap and green mineral felt - was thinking of earthwool between rafters and Gyproc.

3 questions

Should I consider Earthwool between timber frame for walls?
For floor, I have enough ALREFLEX to fully wrap floor top and bottom before osb goes on - would this be recommended?
How does this sound? I don't want to encourage condensation but equally would like to have it as warm as possible (double patio doors are planned with no windows)
