A Velux Triple Glazing Question About Installing Triple Glazing

by EssexGonzo » Wed Feb 17, 2016 8:02 am

Hi,

This is my first post here, so please treat me gently! I wish I'd found you 3 months ago when our extension started, but hey-ho...!

Anyway, we've had some Velux roof windows installed in a pitched roof.

We ordered the triple glazing glass code 0066 (mainly for noise and anti-dew coating) but they were installed only with the standard 0060 glass. The supplier's fault, rather than our builder's.

Apparently, the solution without having to remove the windows (really don't want to do) is a kit from Velux which adds the third pane to the existing pivoted window section, within the same pivot unit, i.e. no thicker.

I would have thought that the triple glazed unit would have two vacuums between the three panes and could not be fitted on site?

Does this sound correct and does anyone have nay knowledge of this?

Thanks in advance.....

Simon
