Hi all,
First post here and looking for advice on wall ties.
I had a survey carried out on a prospective property purchase and it highlighted potential wall tie failure. We commissioned a second specialist survey to dig a little deeper.
They have investigated and assured me and the vendor that the wall ties are in a good condition. However, he did mention they are not spaced as they should be. They are further apart and when using a metal detector, he was not finding them where they should be. He suggest this was the cause of the wall movement and it does make sense and the metal detector corroborates this.
Is this something that could possible be put down to differing building regs in the 1960, when the property was built?
It hasn't really put me off the purchase as it's something easily remedied, just wondering if something has gone wrong of just things have changed.
Many thanks!
