Rotten Decking Repair or Replacement Advice Needed

by simonpolly » Sun May 22, 2016 10:56 am

Dear All,

Bought a house 18 months ago and the garden has a decking path leading to a summer house and decking to the front and side of the summer house.

Last summer I dug up the grass and found that the soil used was awful so spent a month re-doing it.

Whilst doing this, corners of the decking were just subsiding under me walking on it and breaking. Where the soil/grass patch meets the decking, the wood is rotten and all over the side there are patches of decking that could collapse at any point as well as other areas of rotting decking wood.

I don't know how long ago the decking was done, but would like any ideas/suggestions as what to do ie: replace/repair/get rid?

Thanks in advance (ps I am a complete novice to gardening and decking)

Hi!

Was just reading your post and though have you ever considered wpc (wood-plastic composite) decking?

I personally had the same issue as you, i got bored of having to basically repair and stain the decking every year.
