Name Needed for Cable Clamps on Hot Air Gun Please

by petbro » Tue Jun 21, 2016 1:10 am

Hi,

Just put an extension on a hot air gun and noticed on the original cable supplied there are some 'clamps'. Can anyone help me with their proper name and are they still on the market?

Thanks
Peter

The ferrule needs a special pair of crimp pliers unlikely to find what you have now the replacements have small bits of plastic next to cable insulation which stop cable numbers falling off.

Likely best idea for you is the tin the end of cable with solder.

You want lead solder, as the flux used with non lead solder is very dangerous far worse than the lead. Not only will the flux for non lead solder likely damage cable if left on, the fumes off it can damage you. To use non lead solder needs extractor pipes on end of soldering iron and an extractor pump.
