Changing a ceiling rose fitting to a spotlight

by JerryOS » Sat Aug 18, 2007 12:45 pm

Hi there!

I am new to this and a beginner when it comes to DiY so hope someone can help.

I want to change 2 light fittings in my kitchen/diner area. Currently i have 2 ceiling rose lights and want to replace them with halogen spots. I can't get at the wiring from above so need to do everything from below.

The spots are connected by the blue and brown wires coming from the rose.
Can i get away with connecting the wiring from the rose blocks into terminal blocks and then poking the lot through the new hole for the spots or do i have to use a junction box? If it is a junction box, then would a 5 amp 4 way junction box be ok as this is the only one smaller than the actual hole for the spot?

Hope this makes sense.

J.

Cheers for that Andy. Used one and it works fine. Really pleased with it.

Jerry.
