Hi
I have an end terraced home that is currently being rewired. The electrician said that he had to cut through the damp proof membrane on the gable end during installation, and that after doing so the side facing the brick wall was wet. He said he thought it might be bad pointing, but I know that gable end has been repointed professionally in the last 10 years. Wetness on the side of the bricks doesn't actually sound like a problem to me - I thought the point of the membrane is to keep it there and not on the 'inside' of the property?
Any advice appreciated. Somewhat wary of damp proofing specialists so thought I'd ask on here before getting someone in to quote on work.
Cheers
Jason
