Curtain Pole Hanger Wont Fix to Plasterboard

by OllieJones » Sun Oct 23, 2016 5:31 pm

Hi Guys, recently joined the forum and love how much info is here.

I have recently decorated my dining room and have come to the last job - fitting a new curtain pole and I am having a complete nightmare.

Every other room in the house I have used the metal self-drive plaster board fixings, so I didnt think the dining room would be any different. However, I started driving the fixing and the plaster and the fixing just seem to spin and didnt bite into the plaster board. I then tried to remove the fixing and it just came straight out, pulling some of the plaster with it. I have attached a photo of the damage - to say the Mrs wasn't impressed is an understatement. LOL

So now I have two problems, I need to fix my curtains back up and fix the hole - with something strong enough to support a heavy curtain. Every idea i've been given so far is just to fix the wall with a 'quick fix' nothing substantial enough to support the curtain, or how to fix it.

Any help would be great. Many thanks in advance.

mix some dry wall adhesive and fill the hole first. Leave 24 hours to set then drill the hole and use a rawplug and screw to fix it
