Are Portable Gas Soldering Irons any Good? Help, advice and questions answered on all types of metal joinery

I am thinking about getting a portable gas soldering iron.
Are they as good as the electric one?
Do they keep running out of gas?
I don't to keep having to get butane refills. I'm just using it for joining wires mainly. I do a lot of road side break downs. And I thought it could be handy for the toolbox.

Butane refill concerns aside, i've decided to order one.
No harm having one in the toolbox for when on the road.
