Removing Slates to Extend Trusses and Fit new Gutter

by Spartacus » Wed Feb 08, 2017 4:25 pm

I have a slate roof which trusses needs extending and new gutter and fascia board installing. The gutter is sat on top of the rear wall and is leaking into house. I have been told it's not possible to remove the first few courses above the gutter to get at the the trusses to extend them and that the whole elevation needs replacing. It's something to do with how slates are nailed apparently. Is this correct?

Thanks for your time in advance
