location of Slate DPC in Victorian House

by illusionek » Wed May 03, 2017 8:42 am

Hello

I am about to move to Victorian semi-detached house, build ca 1890-1900. There is an issue with damp that I am aware of. The damp and timber survey suggests lowering external ground levels so they are at least 150mm. The survey suggests that based on its age the property has an original slate type damp proof course.

Can anyone please advise where this DPC may be located/how to locate it? I was searching high and low and cannot really find any specific info. The only useful piece of information I found is that external ground levels should be ca 150mm below internal floor level. However I am not sure if this is the same 150mm as mentioned by my survey or if in total I should go 300mm below internal floor level?

Unfortunately couldn't find online where slate type damp proof course was typically located in a property like mine.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
