My Makita battery has started to not charge properly in its makita charger.

When I plug in the charger the green light starts flashing (this is normal). However when I click in the battery it should change to non flashing red light to indicate the charging has commenced. However, now when I click in the battery the green light just keeps flashing and the battery doesn't charge.

Any ideas why this might be?

does the charger charge other batteries if not- the charger is knackered
does the battery charge in another charger if not the - battery is knackered.

The charger does charge other batteries so I think it is the battery that is knackered
