Installing Shower Panels Over Tiled and Non-Tiled Area

by CroydonMan » Tue Jun 06, 2017 5:14 pm

Hello All,

I hope that this post is in the correct area of the forum. No doubt someone will let me know if I've made an error.

I have a bathroom with tiles half-way up the wall around the bath.

Instead of re-tiling I'd like to install shower panels, or something similar, along the wall next to the bath, to go from the bath edge up to the ceiling.

If I simply put the panels over the tiles, the untiled area will have a gap between the wall and rear surface of the panel. Can someone suggest how that gap could be filled, please?

I had thought of using something like Topps Tiles' HardiBacker 6mm board, but don't know if (a) it's the correct material and (b) how to attach it to the wall. The info on the Topps Tiles website says to use battens, but that would add quite some depth front to back.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received, and thank you in advance for your help.
