Hardwood Flooring Over Floorboards And Raised Sections Appearing

by ckearney » Thu Jul 06, 2017 2:09 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to install hardwood flooring over floorboards. I've put down 5.5cm ply. I know i prob should be using thicker ply but I got this stuff a bit cheaper. I have screwed the ply to the existing floorboards. Its not level though. When I screw down then I seem to be getting raised bits of ply where the floorboards underneath are meeting.Overall the floorboards are level but its got some cupping etc going on. This means my ply is not level in areas and therefore the hardwood floor not level. Any ideas? Do I sand down the raised bits (they are not out by much) or should I unscrew bits of the ply to even out the flex in the ply. Driving me mad so any help would be appreciated. Ta Chris
