Fitting in-line valve

by SWEEP » Fri Aug 24, 2007 8:45 am

Hi, everyone

I want to fit two in-line valves (my description) the type opened and closed using a screw driver into my hot and cold pipes under the kitchen sink so
that I can fit flexible connectors, re-position the sink and fit different taps.

As my propoerty was built in 1960 I assume the pipes are imperial (1/2" size) and not metric and if so presumably I shall need to fit an adaptor and new 15mm pipes to connect from the existing pipework to the in-line valve and then to the taps?

Is there any easy way to check if they are metric or imperial without first cutting the pipes?

Advice gratefully received please.
