4 cable ceiling rose

by vimtogirl » Sun Mar 25, 2007 2:55 pm

I've just replaced my old cracked ceiling rose but am having difficulty working out why it now won't work. I drew a diagram of the previous wiring set up (there were 4 lots of cable coming in!) and wired the new one exactly the same ( very fiddly but believe I've managed it) but now it won't work, and when I switch some of the other upstairs lights, they trip the fuse. Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

you should only have 3 cables in a normal rose, 1 is supply in, 1 is supply out to next rose, 1 is switch wire. The 4th cable may go to a fan or maybe a wall light or a second light in same room you don't say what room you are in!
In all cases there should be 3 black wires in with the flexes blue, one black should be marked as red from switch which goes to flex brown, remaining three reds go together in terminals not connected to flex, check & post again with as much info as poss, sparx
