Running 6mm T&E Cable Outside of House in Plastic Conduit

by Nottmtrucker » Sun Nov 05, 2017 9:53 pm

I'm intending to run a 6mm t&e cable on the outside of the house approx 3 meters through 20mm plastic conduit as opposed to chasing it through internal walls. Is this ok? Many thanks in advance.

No, its not ok to run 6mm twin and earth through 20mm conduit.
You can only use 40% of the conduits capacity

Getting 6mm T&E into 20 mm conduit would be hard, it does not draw well, personally I would use SWA cable then no need for conduit, in the main any cable for outside is black as this resists suns rays better than other colours.

There are other tough cables that can be used outside, however SWA is common so also tends to be cheaper than other cable because so much is made. However really needs to terminate in a metal box and needs glands.
