IP67 Pendant Light Exists? Ask questions and find answers to many subjects relating to electrics and electrical work

Afternoon All,

I am having a new bathroom installed. My wife would like a run of three pendant lights over the bath because she has a particular light shade she wishes to use.

As this is Zone 0, pendants don't appear to be readily available but does anyone know if such a thing exists please? If so can you point me in the right direction.

701.32.2 Description of zone 0
Zone 0 is the interior of the bash tub or shower basin (see Figures 701.1 and 701 2).
For showers without a basin, the height of zone 0 is 0.10 m and its surface extent has the same horizontal extent as zone 1 (see Figure 701.2).
You really want the light inside the bath tub, I think more like Zone 1 or 2 and In zones 1 and 2: IPX4 is the requirement.

Not in the bath, as I said. These are pendant lights above the bath.

There seems to be some confusion in this post.

bunda1961, ericmark is correct, zone 0 is the actual bath, you said

The link you gave is wrong because the regulations were updated and there is no zone 3.

bunda1961 you have 2 problems.
1) Even though the light is above the bath it can not have "any shade" (That your wife likes) it has to be suitably rated, which most "shades" are not

2) If you did have a pendant light it would need a suitably rated ceiling rose, these do not exist. (You may get away with using boxes and glands)

There is also the danger that anyone slipping the natural reaction would be to grab...............the light fitting

Then there is also the future when someone sees the pendant and just puts a normal "shade" on it

Tell you wife, very sorry, can't have pendant lights in a bathroom
