Hi there,
I have attached an image of the top floor of our 17th century house. We have recently had the beams sandblasted as the previous owners had painted them white and black.
Some of the beams have had really bad woodworm, which is no longer active. I have also attached an image of the damage.
1) What is the best course of action to prevent further woodworm / rot, with a treatment? Please note that we want to maintain the light natural oak colour.
2) What is the best finish to use? We don't want the beams to look too glossy but ideally would cover some of the woodworm damage.
3) I have heard of beeswax polish. Has anyone got any experience with using this sort of finish?
Really appreciate any help or advice.
Sophie
