No one has less DIY skills than myself, I struggle to put up a curtain rail. I am attempting to build 2 simple garden benches using a 20 ft 9 x 5 ins beam of wood. I have 2 horizontals and four short pieces for feet. I need to cit a recess in a horizontal to fit a leg (4 x) I have cut 2 cuts with a saw 5 inches apart and now need to chisel (? or otherwise remove) out the wood. I have broken 2 heavy duty chisels so far so assume I am using the wrong tool - any suggestions? I'm thinking of getting my chainsaw onto it next!
