Problem With Compression Hose Leaking Water All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

Hi guys,

I've got a compression hose feeding my washing machine that since I've installed keeps leaking very slowly. I've re attached it a few times but the problem persists. I suspect it is the o'ring or the plastic case that has the tread that is not applying the pressure evenly across the o'ring.

I'm thinking about getting a hose that has the caps made out of metal, not sure if they are much better than the plastic ones?

I remember hearing that there is some sort of paste that can help sealing, but I'm not sure if it for treads and not for the o'ring itself. WHat would you guys suggest?

Not sure if I just got a crap hose, but just in case if plastic ones are no good.

How old is the hose? reason i ask is the washers do perish over time, you could always try some PTFE tape around the threads on the valve before you put the hose on. When you push the washing machine back is this causing the problem?

I think going for the expensive ice machine hose that you posted a link to is excessive probably not needed, i have fitted thousands of washing machines over the years and never had to use one of those.

How long is the hose that is currently on the machine?

the hose is new, I installed the dish washer myself. I decided to replace the valve with a new one as the surface where the rubber seals against was a bit rough.

It seems okay now, it it was the valve itself the problem
