I have an internal room with no windows which I now need to use as a bedroom. It backs onto no external walls. I believe I can somehow get an air vent fit that will allow fresh air into the room via the roof. But someoe has said that if the room is to be used for a bedroom it must have a window for a fire escape. Does anyone know if this is correct?

I'll try my best to help you!
Firstly is this an attic bedroom if so it is easy enough to but a velux window in the roof, this should open wide enough for a fireman/woman to get through with all they're kit on and will also offer ventilation.
Secondly i'm sure if this bedroom is on the same level as other rooms that have windows and doors that can be used as fire exits you should be okay,
but i'd ring your local fire officer or council and they will tell you, it's all about safety in the end. They are approachable
I know, not conclusive but i've just had new windows in and had asked the question about fire regs/exits and that was what I was told by building regs officer.
