Finsh for Heavily Used Large Desk

by Canna » Sat May 26, 2018 4:11 am

I have a large desk I made myself, and I finished it with a black wood stain. It is now wearing off in the areas at the front where I lean heavily on the desk, and looks a real mess. (I've had the desk for about 20 years, so it has had a lot of usage.)

I would like a heavy duty finished for the desk, that can take a lot of wear and tear. A tough finish which will handle me leaning on it while is use the computer. I would like a black finish, but am happy to use any material. Suggestions would be very welcome. Thank you.

You will need to stain it again, then use a polyurethane over the stained surface.

Before starting the process you will need to clean the surfaces throughly.
