odd soil pipe dimensions to toilet pan connector

by sponidoo » Sun Jun 10, 2018 1:05 am

I'm not sure what to do.. fitting a new toilet..

The soil pipe is horizontal, the correct height. But the cast iron opening is 5.5" / 140mm inside diameter. After a depth of 2" the diameter steps down to 3", for the next 4" before going into the wall.

What kind of toilet pan connector do I get. I can't find anything that looks like the original.

It seems that I might have to saw off the wide 2" long mouth part leaving a straight 3" pipe. But I'd rather find a suitable pan connector fitting. The pan opening on the new toilet is also 3".

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Different pipes carry water to and from your toilet, and each pipe has a different diameter. If you plan to install your own toilet, you have to know which size pipe to use for each plumbing route. According to my experience, 4 inches pipes are often used for toilet pan. You can try for it.
