Fitting and Wiring a Hallway Ceiling Fan Light

by Kermit » Tue Aug 14, 2018 3:22 pm

Had a look at my wiring prior to getting a fan light for my landing. The wires in the rose arent what i was expecting as i fitted one in my sitting room. Is it due to the extra switch to control the light from down stairs. Theres the 2 core and earth ( black/red) and a 2 core and earth (both red) the twin reds are whats thrown me. The fan i am ordering has separate pull switches for the light and fan.The wiring online for the fan says it has only live/neutral/earth. Any ideas about how to attack it or should i get a spark in. Cheers

Without actually seeing what you have it is only possible to speculate.

It may be some additional wiring is required as your fan may only work when the light is on, but as I said without seeing it, it is hard to say, and as you are not 100% confident I would suggest in this case you get a competent person to do the job for you.
