Existing Tiles Over Extractor Fan Cover

by Maro » Fri Nov 16, 2018 12:50 pm

My bathroom extractor fan stopped working and I cant see how to remove the cover.

It appears whoever tiled the room did so right up to, and possibly over, the cover and I can't figure out how to remove it.

I live in a ground floor flat so wall mounting the fan is the only option. Built in the 1980's this may well be the original unit but wouldn't be surprised if it's not.

I would be really grateful if anyone could shed some light as to how the cover comes off, or where I can find out what model and year it might be, all I know is it's xpelair.

Most fans have a clip on cover that you gently prise off with a flat bladed screwdriver, but must inquire, have you been in touch with xpelair (The people who make that fan) and ask them?

Thank you for the response.
I'm waiting to hear back from xpelair.
There's decorators caulk all around the edge of the cover, I've cut through it but the thing does't budge, any clips are covered/hidden by the caulk
