Megaflo Eco Unvented Indirect Cylinder - Low pressure

by highams1 » Tue Dec 18, 2018 7:35 pm

Hi there, we have a issue relating to Megaflo Eco Unvented Indirect Cylinder and I wanted to check if the information we are getting from our plumber was correct ? And what action we can take ?

We have recently spent a lot of money to have a new Megaflo Eco Unvented Indirect Cylinder (210i) installed, with the promise this would allow us to remove the hot water tank in the loft and improve water pressure in the house, and serve the new shower in the loft conversion.

HOWEVER - We get great pressure initially but pressure drops off quickly (within a minute) and now takes twice as long as old immersion tank (with cold water tank in loft) to fill the bath.

The plumber is stating it is due to the fact we have low water pressure, and I need to contact Thames Water (Our water supplier) to discuss this (Sound very hopeful to me, i.e. I would think it very unlikely to get Thames water to anything about this) but, to me, the cold tap in the kitchen seems to have ok pressure, its certainly not dribbling out, which the hot is after 1 minute.

My 2 questions

1) Does this problem sound like a low water pressure problem ?
2) If so - what should I ask Thames water to get any increase?
3) If not - what should I ask my plumber to check? What can we do to improve the pressure?

Many thanks

Turns out it is a flow problem.

at downstairs tap

Pressure 2.4 bar
Flow 10 L/m
In sink in bathroom level with cylinder - flow is only 5 L/m

Recommendation from Heatre Sadia is
minimum pressure 1.5 bar
20 l/m flow rate.

Now speaking to Thames Water to see what our flow is to our boundary.
