I’ve got aluminium bifold doors. Over time the hinge handle became stiff and eventually severed so I needed to replace. I bought a new handle, but when I went to screw it into place the internal mechanism seems to have disappeared - nowhere for the screws to tighten into, or the spindle to operate the open / shut mechanism. There appears to be some sort of plastic thing with holes, but nothing that the new handle can attach to.
I’m guessing it’s somewhow dropped down into the frame. Any idea what has happened / how this can be recovered / fixed?
