Building 6sm Brick Strong Room

by Max2988 » Wed Jan 09, 2019 8:24 pm

Hi all,
I’m building a 6sm brick strong room on top of a new slap under the house and have some questions.
How long after the slab is poured can I start laying brick on it?
What kind of brick would be suitable, I was thinking of the strongest solid brick available. I think it’s a red compressed one?
Do I need to add damp provention DPC between a low level of brick work. (The slap has moisture retention plastic under it).
I will have very little room for the roof between the house timber floor, I was thinking of using some sheet steel for this and securing it with cement and a couple of steel cross beams, good idea?
Any thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Max
