Laying Concrete on Decking for a BBQ?

by sibber » Tue May 22, 2018 4:06 pm

Hi,

So I am planning to build a brick BBQ. I have all the necessary equipment its just that as my garden is all decking or plastic grass I am struggling for a flat base to build. The area I want to build contains an old concrete doorstep which would be ideal but the dimensions mean the brick would overlap with the decking (see picture). Would this be ok to lay the concrete foundations on and if so would leveling using the concrete itself be best? Im assuming the answer is no as the decking (scaffolding boards) will expand and contract with the weather. Are there any other solutions bar removing some of the decking in another location?

Thanks, Neil

I live on the second story of a residential house and had my wsm for 3 yrs. Never had and issue. I just put a sheet pan underneath to act as a heat shield and catch any embers when pouring the chimney starter. i also have a gasser that is great to use for the chimney starter, prepping food and taking food off the wsm as well.
