Should I use Vapour Barrier Before Wooden Cladding?

by GH14 » Tue Jan 22, 2019 10:29 pm

Hi, I'm thinking of cladding the outside of my house, it's made of mass concrete and stone. Should i put a vapour barrier on before I put the 50x25mm battens?

Hi,

I would suggest using a vapour permeable layer. this will allow the movement of air between the cladding and the concrete inner leaf.

By doing so it will prevent the buildup of moisture between the 2 layers and reduce the risk of mold or mildew in behind the cladding where you cannot see it and prevent any rot that may occur.
