Height of Ground to DPC Only 1 Brick at Present?

by AndrewWhit » Sat May 04, 2019 5:04 pm

Hi - I was looking to add a paved patio area to the garden. We have an extension that has been built recently - but having dug out a bit I discovered that the DPC is only one brick above the foundation. Is this correct in the first place and what can I do to lay a patio ? I can't dig through the foundations to lower the level.

I've read that the DPC should be at minimum 75cm from the ground level.

Dont go any higher than it is now. Personaly i would look to having a floating deck/patio so any water can run underneath. IE: a wood/plastic deck. You may get away with having a boarder of 20mm pebbles near to the walls about 4" wide to let the water run away, but this will depend on there being a slope to let the water run off under these pebbles.
