Adding a Natural Stone Veneer to Block Wall

by BridgeGael » Sun May 26, 2019 8:15 pm

Hi,

This is my first post here and I probably should have posted this query about 3 months ago before I actually got started into this project.

I'm an amateur and have taken on building some raised beds from block and am trying to stick reclaimed field stone veneer onto the block to make it look more rustic. I've never built a wall or done anything like this before and I don't have the money to pay a pro to do it.

I have piles of stone lying around a nearby farm and I'm sifting through find 1" flattish stone which I can stick onto the block. I'm just using standard cement and putting a good dollop on the back of the stone and tapping it into place with a hammer. I'm using my finger to push cement into the joints and have been careful not to leave holes for water to get in. I haven't used all wall ties or anything else. My main question is will these stone stay stuck long term?

I've added a few photos and would appreciate any feed back or advice.
