I have a garden building built with 150mm thermal blocks rendered on the outside. I want to improve the insulation to make it fit for working on temperature sensitive woodworking projects. Thinking of adding an inner 100mm x 50mm stud wall with 100mm rigid insulation between studs to achieve this. Also propose insulating the flat roof in a similar way. Any better ways?

This is one of the most popular options for walls. When installing the insulation between studs be sure to use a thin layer like 25mm fixed directly to the stud afterward. This helps combat thermal binding and helps provide a better U value overall. The flat roof can be insulated internally in the same manner. between and below joists. Make sure to tape and seal all joints between the insulation with foil tape.
