Is Fuse box Next to Cooker Okay?

by Pamela.M » Wed Aug 21, 2019 6:46 pm

So I have a fuse under my stairs but it’s partially in the kitchen as well. We are in the process of getting a new kitchen and we thought it would be easier to turn the fuse box so we can get access from the kitchen instead of under the stairs. Basically it’s right next to oven and the electrician who move it said it’s fine but just want people’s opinion or if they have the same set up?? It’s always been next to the oven but now because it’s been moved it obviously closer to it so just want to make sure it’s safe with the heat from the oven

The cupboard above our built in oven never got really hot, the ovens cooling fans worked well, so would not really worry about it, main thing is always allow oven to cool.

We had a council instructor tell my mother to always turn off oven after use, we it meant the clock did not work, and had to be reset each time before oven could be used, and the cupboard over heated because all cooling fans turned off, her excuse was she used gas, when asked if she turned gas tap off after use answer was no, so why turn off electric? She could not answer.

So answer I am giving assumes you don't turn off supply after use.

Yeah I don’t turn it off after each use and its an electric fan assisted oven. The fuse box is to the left of the oven so it’s the same level as it, that’s the only reason why I was worried
