Large top to Bottom Crack in Chimney Render

by LexC » Mon Sep 09, 2019 3:15 pm

Hi,
I’ve got a large crack (top to bottom) in the render of my chimney. One builder is quoting me £350 to fix the crack. Another builder tells me it needs complete rebuilding and will cost £880 plus vat. Anyone know which is correct and anyone got a rough idea of price?
Many thanks

Personally, i would think builder 2 as he is playing safe . If there is a large crack, there is certainly somthing wrong. But get another 2 quotes to rebuild.
Depending on the size i would assume there is scaffold & a skip involved plus re-flashing the new chimney, plus, at least a day for 2 guys, so £880+vat inc materials is not unreasonable.
