Galvanised Steel Guttering Seriously Blemished

by Lachs » Wed Sep 11, 2019 7:06 pm

Hi everyone

As part of a wider renovation we have recently had a new slate roof installed on our house with new soffits, fascias and guttering. One of our 'luxury' items was galvanised steel guttering made by Zambelli.

We had seen it before on other properties and had really liked it and were very much looking forward to having it fitted. Unfortunately, after being up for only about 3 weeks it has become seriously blemished. I understand that galvanised steel will develop a patina and the zinc oxidises but our guttering looks awful and it seems to have happened very rapidly. Prior to fitting it was stored absolutely correctly and was pristine when unpacked before being fitted.

As you can appreciate we are really disappointed.

Has anyone any experience of this product and what should we realistically expect?

I have attached some photos - these were taken about 3 weeks after the guttering went up.

I'd welcome any advice. The supplier is telling us that this is part of the normal weathering process but it certainly does not look like the Zambelli guttering which we saw and inspired the purchase in the first place.
